A Great Time at the Building Youth Groups Retreat
We had our first Fall BYG (Building Youth Groups) Retreat this past weekend on October 11 and 12. This was our third BYG event thus far and themes for past years and this year were:
- F.R.O.G. (Fully Rely On God, Spring 2018)
- Super Heroes of the Bible (Spring 2019)
- S’More Time with God (Fall 2019)
Springtime has been the only date for BYG and we were pleased to offer this new fall opportunity!
Building Youth Groups is for kids ages 3rd-6th grade and it is an event we offer to churches as a tool to help them to start “building up their youth groups” at a young age by providing opportunities for team building, fellowship, studying the Bible, participating in group projects, and enjoying God’s creation.
Our fall BYG Retreat welcomed 3 churches: Grace Lutheran Church (Libertyville), St. John’s Lutheran Church (Ashton), and Trinity Lutheran (Mount Morris). We learned about ways that we can spend “s’more time” with God by first learning about him through reading the Bible and then building a relationship with Him through prayer. We participated in various team building exercises and rounded out the evening with a fire and of course S’MORES!
The next day was extra special because it was Autumn Fest at LOMC! The kids prepared a special devotion to share with the attendees and helped with setting up craft activities. They also were able to participate in the 5K Donut Fun walk/run, archery, wagon rides, apple cider pressing, and pumpkin carving. We all had a wonderful time and that the churches, parents and especially the adult leaders that had fun right along with their group!
Your church should be looking forward to the NEXT BYG RETREAT this coming spring on March 20-21, 2020!
