New Director of Programs and Engagement
We are excited to welcome Aaron Musser as Director of Programs and Engagement! In this capacity, he will oversee LOMC programs, communications, and outreach.
Aaron recently graduated from seminary at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. As a pastoral intern at Geneva Lutheran Church, he joined confirmation campers and experienced the call of the wild — the Holy Spirit’s unique and powerful movement – at LOMC. He is thrilled for the opportunity to contribute to this important ministry.
Aaron was a camp kid, attending Lutheran summer camps in South Dakota and Minnesota during elementary and middle school. In college, he spent his summers as a camp counselor at Good Earth Village in Southeast Minnesota. He lead cabin groups, lifeguarded, coordinated middle school and high school programs, and led excursion trips as far as 10 hours away from camp.
Aaron also brings passions for group music-making. He began playing piano at an early age, learned guitar as a camp counselor, and majored in music at St. Olaf College (specializing in saxophone and voice). After college he worked as a church musician in Milwaukee and Chicago, leading congregational song from piano/organ, composing liturgical music, and organizing choirs for regular worship support and for special events.
Executive Director Clyde Walter shares, “In this season of renewal and visioning at LOMC, I’m incredibly excited and grateful to have Aaron joining our team in this role. Aaron brings rich and diverse gifts to this ministry and has already demonstrated a thoughtful and collaborative approach to advancing LOMC’s ministry that will be nourishing for LOMC and all of us who are involved with LOMC in the year ahead.”
Aaron remarks, “LOMC is such a gift, and I’m honored to join the many people who care deeply about this place and its future. I’m eager to co-dream about the potentialities of outdoor ministries for spiritual/ecological formation and I’m excited to be a partner in this meaningful place. To quote Wendell Berry: ‘what we need is here.’”
